The standards are being developed by 802.3 IEEE. The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.) is a non-profit, technical association of more than 365,000 individual members in approximately 150 countries. Through its members, the IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas including computer engineering, biomedical technology, and telecommunications, electric power, aerospace engineering and consumer electronics.
